New Times Ahead

Once again, I step positively into the new year, with the hopes of finishing incomplete jobs and marching ahead. But there is also a lot different to the way I am approaching the new year. The past year, even though I didn't realize, made me a lot wiser. I gained a lot of experience, working with new people, dealing with previously unseen situations and of course getting placed in 2 companies.
The feeling that accompanies this new year is not of pessimism but of apprehension. And this is not my cynical attitude of finding faults in everything or the usual defeatist way of looking at things.
I genuinely know that I am placed at a very good position in my life. The stage is set, the launching pad ready.

I feel like a young eagle, who was brought up and trained in a loving and caring environment and was taught all the skills like flying, hunting, taking care of loved ones, has now come to age. The time is approaching, to leave the eyrie and fly away. Not because he has been banished, not because he has grown too much to fit at home, but because this is the law of the world. The onus is now on the young eagle to create a new life, to seek new pastures, to fight for territory, hunt for food and last, but not the least to find a mate and settle down, in a new eyrie of his own. In this journey he might get hurt, but he'll learn. He'll meet new people, come across foreign lands, get hurt, but regardless of the circumstances, he'll grow :)

The moment of truth is yet to come for me. I have at least 7-8 months before I leave my home for my life ahead, but the feeling has dawned on me. Am I afraid? Yes, but not of the unknown, but of losing grasp of the known. Of Losing my friends (however good or bad they may be), of the comfort that home offers :), The wisdom of father, the love and care of mother, the familiar roads, of my room, of that person who I am not sure what I feel for but I feel jealous and yearn for her company when I see her talking to someone else..

I always like to be in control of things, almost like a mechanized controller. Someone who knows the result even before the action is done (or not done). I like things to behave in an ordered way, and though it makes life boring, but its comfortable to deal with things. Therefore, the idea of something totally unknown makes me queasy.

But regardless of what happens or what I think, I know I'll have to move on. The river never stops at one place, it moves on, and that is the reason why it is cleaner than the stagnant pond.. Despite the element of fear, I am excited at the prospect. The cliff is just round the bend, and 6 months later I will have to jump off it and fly. :)

In hope of a memorable journey,
WELCOME 2013
