In Pursuit Of Happiness

No, This post is not about the wonderful movie starring will smith and his son. Neither is this post related to it- the human spirit, the never-say-die attitude which instead of inspiring people, sometimes pushes them into blues as their own incompetence and guilt makes them feel worthless. Its about happiness, a bird that everyone chases, but no one seem to have it. Even those who feel like they have captured this bird cant hold it for too long. But Why?

Almost all of the world around us is virtual, such is the case with happiness . The fake smiles, the celebrities marrying each other in lavish ceremonies only to divorce with a massive lawsuit pending. The Facebook World- aah. It seems almost the entire world except you is happy. The "YAY!!" Status, the albums full of 'friends' enjoying at some hot and happening place. There are times when even you are in those albums but often you feel left out. It seems you are the only boring person.
So, is it so? Are you the only gloomy person in a world full of people who are happy with their lives.

Now people think here is another seer who is gonna give out cliches like "Walk a mile in another man's shoes before you judge him.", "Learn to be contented"
But no, its nothing of this sort. I understand all of us have our own troubles. But that is not the point.
The point is no one of us is happy. All those Facebook status, those smiling pics all have a bare heart behind them. There is a deep need inside EVERY ONE of us, even those who shout otherwise. The need to be accepted by others, the intense longing of love. We appear happy, cool and suave on social networks only to convince others that we are happy. To live up to their expectations.

Deep inside, we all are children, looking for someone to hold us close. To let us know that we too can be loved. In Pursuit of Happiness. We fear that if we don't wear the charades we will be rejected.
What for? Why can't we accept the fact that its ok to be hurt. Ok to be upset. Because if we cant love ourselves how can we expect others to love us?
I would end this by quoting Frank Warren-

“How I wish I could hug everyone and tell them that it's okay. It's okay to be scared and angry and hurt and selfish. It's part of being human.”

I wish the same. To be successful in their pursuit of happiness :)

  2. So damn true...!! I know I don't need to say much, because somewhere deep inside my heart, I know it's completely true, and I also behave at times like the people you mentioned.I'm also in a pursuit of happiness. Nothing to be ashamed of.
